A Candid Discussion: Racism in Healthcare

In honor of Black History Month, on Tuesday, February 23rd from 5:30-7 pm, the Wachusett Area Social Justice Alliance will be hosting a remote interactive panel discussion about the real challenges of navigating the healthcare system from the margins. The conversation will be lead by healthcare experts who have seen and/or experienced, first hand, how racism and discrimination impact Black, Indigenous and people of color as both practitioners and patients in the medical field. The panel will also explore ways to recognize and, whenever possible, disrupt blatant and subtle discrimination in healthcare systems. The overview will be followed by an interactive discussion on how we can work to disrupt our biases and work together to eliminate structural racism and exclusion in every sphere. Presented by: Soudie Tahmassebipour is an Iranian-American attorney currently working as an independent diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging consultant.
